Gym Treadmill

Can a gym treadmill help you to lose weight? Yes, it can. But you have to know how to use the machine to your own benefit. Here's the wrong way to use a gym treadmill.

Some people like to exercise on the treadmill 5 times a week. Can they burn off a lot of calories from these runs? Sure, running always burn calories. But after a couple of weeks or so, these people have trouble keeping up with the exercise program. Most of them just quit and never return to the gym. So what happened?

So you, when you stress your muscles and joints on a daily basis, you get burned out very quickly. Running on a treadmill means you are putting impact on your knees. If you don't give your legs enough rest, you run the risk of injuring your legs. That's what happened those who run 5 or even 6 times a week. The impact is just too much for the legs to handle.

You can burn between 500 to 1,000 calories on the treadmill, depending on the intensity of the exercise. But if you go full out 5 times a week, you are going to be concerned with recovery most of the time.

The right way to use a gym treadmill to lose weight is to workout less. Reduce the frequency from 5 to 3 times a week. Don't use the gym treadmill on consecutive days. Plan your running sessions on Mon, Wed, and Fri.

Also, instead of running at the same speed for the whole time, try to incorporate Interval training into your exercise program. Interval training (high and low speed alternating) has been known to be more effective than running at a constant speed.
